“ Deal with it. Long lines (when you are in a hurry or not), small area to order, hardly any space to move around, and know what you want. It's one of those places you go for the food and they know it. BE READY TO ORDER! I hate you if you are not ready. Seriously. All the dim sum tastes great (I don't usually eat the egg tarts but I eat theirs). Seriously, deal with it or you will miss out. ”
“ The service here is always pretty horrendous, and the staff can be incredibly rude. When I asked if they could add a few more pieces to my order for my grandma, they yelled at me for not having my order straight. Plus, they constantly mess up my orders. Despite all of that, this will always be my go-to dim sum spot in the city. The har gow has a great texture with chunks of shrimp and a perfectly chewy wrap. Their siu mai is the best I've had--plump filling with chunks of pork that add a nice chew. The baos have a generous amount of filling, and the chive dumplings are seasoned just right. Even the chow fun noodles hold up well when I bring them home to stir fry. I've tried dim sum across the city and in multiple Chinatowns (NY, Philly, Seattle, etc.), and Good Mong Kok is still one of the best. ”
“ Heard lots about this place so wanted to try it out! We ordered almost all their top 10s (lol) and out of the bunch, I'd have to say the shrimp harkow and shu mai were honestly the best tasting. They are definitely a lot bigger in size compared to the ones you order at sit down dim sum restaurants. If I could go back to this bakery I'd buy a whole container of the shrimp harkow and shu mai hahaha. My boyfriend also loved the steamed pork bun and sesame balls! They are best enjoyed hot, so basically right away hehe. Cash preferred, there's a 3% charge for cards! ”
“ Good Mong kok Bakery is a staple of Chinatown with the typical asian ladies speaking loudly in cantonese to each other. They often have a long line out the front door with visitors both near and far coming to try their dim sum selection. There is no seating inside and space is very small just enough for 2-3 customers to stand and order. Luckily when we went the line wasn't too long and we got to order within 5 min of waiting. We got a few dim sum including egg yolk bun, bbq pork bun, ha gow, shu mai, lobo gao. They give you 3 piece of each item per order and each order is around $3 to $4. The price is a great value and good deal for the amount of food you get. The total came out to only $17 for all the dim sum we ordered. The dim sum was decent overall but not enough to rave about it. The ha gow skin was thick. The bbq pork in was tasty and the filling was good. The Lobo gao lacked flavor and wasn't sautéed enough. The sweet egg bun filling was not a runny yolk and was not as good as i thought it would be. Again all of it is great value and decent dim sum but the actual food is just mediocre. ”
